Seedlings for Sustainability
Seedlings for Sustainability is a partnership in tree planting in the deforested area of Kibwezi in Kenya, Africa with the goal of slowly but surely reestablishing balance in the ecology in the local area and the world.
- The environment in Kibwezi, Kenya is out of balance. Too many trees have died from being cut down or from the drought.
- The mango trees we plant will supply shade, a more stable earth for other trees and plants, a higher water table and fruit for the people to eat and sell.
- When we buy a mango, guava or acacia seedling, our partners at the Utini School in Kibwezi will plant it and take care of it.
- Our partners there will be responsible to take daily care of the seedling until it is old enough to replant.
- As they take good care of the plant they will be rewarded with school supplies.
- It will cost $20 to buy a mango tree seedling.
- All monitoring efforts will be carried out by Hon. Agnes Ndetei or someone she has trained.
